How the calculation works
- Gross plan area (m²) = length (m) × width (m).
- Net plan area (m²) = gross area − excluded area.
- Base component quantity (kg) = net area ÷ 100 × entered rate (kg/100 m²).
- Planning allowance (kg) = base quantity × entered allowance percentage ÷ 100.
- Planning quantity (kg) = base quantity + planning allowance.
What the result assumes
- Dimensions describe one rectangle measured in metres, with non-overlapping exclusions within it. Defaults 20 m × 10 m are a hypothetical example, not your measured site.
- Plan area is used; slope surface correction, irregular geometry and formal surveys are outside this model.
- Calculate one named component at a time. The rate must come from the actual approved specification, qualified recommendation or applicable product instruction.
- The initial zero rate is not a treatment recommendation. A positive user-supplied rate is required before any quantity can be calculated.
- Any required PLS-to-bulk seed conversion is completed separately using the applicable lot analysis. Do not count that conversion again as a planning allowance.
- No bag size, purchase rounding, cost, water volume, suitability, installation warranty or establishment result is calculated.
- The entered allowance is a separate planning/procurement assumption. Confirm the actual applied quantity against the specification.
Check before using the result
- Enter the approved rate for the material component named in your project specification. The starting zero does not select a rate.
- Excluded area must leave a positive measured plan area. Confirm slopes and irregular boundaries separately.
Manual checks for the actual project
- Name the material component and its source rate.
- Confirm measurement basis and exclusions.
- Resolve slope or irregular-area measurement separately.
- Reconcile actual application and purchased surplus.
Carry every input, net and gross area, component quantity, allowance, formulas, assumptions and tool URL into the editable HAUSE intake brief. Ask the user to name the component, attach the source of the rate and identify measurement limitations.
